Ratkai has been in local government for nearly 15 years and most recently comes from the City of Richland, where he served as the Economic Development Manager. Before that, he worked in a handful of communities in Colorado in land use planning, building inspection, and disaster recovery management. He obtained a Bachelors in Geography from the University of Northern Colorado and a Masters in Public Administration from the University of Colorado.
Ratkai grew up in Denver, Colorado, but has lived in the Tri-Cities since 2016. When not working to improve communities, he enjoys exploring the Pacific Northwest with his wife Brielle and two sons, Nicholas and Nolan; skiing, complaining about his favorite college football teams, and cheering on the Tri-City Americans.
The City’s AC&S Department oversees such diverse functions as Parks and Recreation, Facilities, Information Services, and the City Clerk, amongst others.
"I am very excited to be a part of the Pasco community and looking forward to be a part of its continued exceptionalism," said Ratkai about his joining the City of Pasco team.
“Zach’s experience will be a valuable addition to the City’s management team,” said City Manager Dave Zabell.
Ratkai will start with the City on Monday, September 10, and will be introduced to the City Council at their Workshop Meeting that evening.
The City of Pasco strives to continue improving the quality of life in the community.
