The Park and Recreation Advisory Board advises the City Council and the City Manager on matters pertaining to recreation programs, including senior citizen programs. The Board also advises the Council on the planning, development, improvement, beautification, equipping, and maintaining of public parks, playgrounds, recreation facilities and resources. Members serve 3-year terms.

The Planning Commission makes recommendations to the City Council on the city's Comprehensive Plan, the Subdivision Ordinance, and Zoning Ordinance of the Municipal Code. Along with workshops on other land use-related issues, the commission holds public hearings for planned-unit developments, preliminary plats, re-zones, and special permits.

The Civil Service Commission is a citizen board mandated and governed by Washington State statutes.
This commission works to ensure that hiring, promotions, and appointments to the ranks of the Police Department and Fire Department are made in a fair and unbiased process. The Civil Service Commission may also review disciplinary actions should an employee appeal such actions to the board. Members serve 6-year terms.

The Firefighter's Pension Board was created as provided in the Revised Code of Washington (RCW) 41.16. The Firemen's Pension Board, consists of the Mayor as Chair (ex officio), the City Clerk, the City Treasurer/Finance Manager, and, in addition, two regularly employed firefighters elected as provided by the statute, which the Board shall have all the powers and authority provided for by the statute.
